After the recent release of the critically acclaimed downtempo album Tinkerbox, Spoonbill swoops back on the dancefloor with a beak full of squawking grooves ready to set the party alight. Squawkus is a menagerie of four festive tracks all uniquely armed with solid funky rhythms, chewy bass tones, squawking melodies and signature Spoonbill production prowess.
Intrinsically entwined with the electronic tones are recordings of guitars, horns & vocals. The opening track Bingle Rust slams straight into overdrive with an infectious driving bassline that opens up to reveal a mariachi inspired desert-scape featuring Hawaiian lap steel by Eastward and slide trumpet by Mal Webb.
The 2nd tune on the Ep; Tidal Wave features Dub FX throwing down jiving rhymes and beatboxing over funk laden guitar riffs and dirty beats and bass.
Flying high on the global beats and bass music scene Spoonbill is poised to unleash this fist full of tunes to the world.
